Damasko DA36

Damasko DA36 Repair (2019)

Created Monday 18 November 2019

15/11/19

Sent an email asking for advice on having the watch repaired on 15/11/19 :

Good morning,

I bought a DA36 in October 2016, direct from Damasko and I have been very pleased with it and it has been very reliable, keeping good time over the last 3 years.

The serial number is DA36.1981

Recently I have noticed that it randomly loses a up to one minute in a single day, when most of the time it keeps to within ± 2 seconds per day.

On these occasions I have observed the watch using a Timegrapher machine, and I see that the displayed rate can be as low as -240 s/d and the displayed amplitude can be as low as 126 degrees. These periods of poor performance occur randomly and do not appear to be related to any physical activity etc. Often the watch returns to normal behaviour after a few hours. I now feel that I cannot rely on the watch to be reliable in normal use.

Can I arrange for the watch to be repaired or serviced to return it to it's previous excellent and reliable performance?

Since I bought the watch direct from Damasko I am happy to return it to yourselves for the repair.

Please advise me on how to proceed.

Best wishes,

John Pumford-Green

After checking it our watchmaker told us that there is many abrasion in the movement.

In the following I may offer you the following cost estimate:

Regulate DA36.1981 €120

Shipping costs UK €50

Total amount €170

The named prices are without VAT.

Please let me know, if we can go ahead with your watch.

Reply from me:

Hello Isabella,

Thank you for the information.

I would be very happy for the repair to go ahead.

I can pay in advance by PayPal or would you prefer to complete the repair before payment, in case of additional expenses that might be necessary?

Regards,

John

Reply from Isabella:

Thank you for your quick reply.

I would send you the invoice for payment by PayPal when I get the watch back by our watchmaker. May I know which invoice and delivery address I can use?

Now to wait for the repair to be complete.

What is “many abrasion” in the escapement - did I do it while regulating - introducing some foreign bodies, dirt/dust? Will not do any further regulation once I get it back, and just have it serviced every few years…. I can put up with a few seconds/day here and there, as long as it's not > ± 10s/d
